Be part of Circular Citizens

Phase 1

As the first steps in the project we have been mapping out active citizens, influencers and movements that aim to promote and share ideas on everyday circular practices, such as waste prevention, reuse and recycling. All of them are doing valuable work in educating and inspiring citizens to be more circular. We are conducting interviews with citizens active in these movements. Here’s a glimpse at our findings.

Phase 2

Using the insights from interviews, we will construct a geolocated survey for activists in St. Petersburg to visualize waste sorting routes and hotspots of ecological lifestyle in the city. In Finland, the insights from interviews will be utilised in a survey to study the wider public’s attitudes toward waste prevention.

Phase 3

Third phase of the project engages young people through workshops and repurpose experiments in high schools in Finland and Russia to promote intercultural feelings of solidarity around the topic of circular economy. Would your school like to be part of the initiative? Sends us a message!

We are pleased to present the interim results of our work, which were presented at the International Transdisciplinary Conference 2021 as part of the report Beyond Rules and Obligations: Learning from Circular Citizens in Finland and Russia.
